Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient therapy which has been used for hundreds of years by many different cultures throughout the world.  These includes the Mayans, Egyptians, Chinese, Russian and Indian civilisations.  It has been used for centuries, to promote health and well-being, and activating the body’s natural healing response.

There are energy zones that run throughout the body.  The feet, being the most accessible and sensitive, are ideal for working these reflex points, due to the receptive nature of the feet.  Reflexology works by stimulating these points on the feet, that correspond to internal organs, glands and structures of the body.  The feet, are  a reflection of the body.  Therefore, you can treat the entire body by applying gentle but firm pressure to these reflex points.  This can affect, and normalise the functioning of the body, and reduce pain.

Reflexology Reflexology is used to restore and maintain the body’s equilibrium and encourage self healing.  It is great for reducing stress and anxiety.  Reflexology induces a deep state of relaxation, improves circulation and releases blocked energy, helps cleanse toxins and impurities from the body, and adjusts emotional imbalances.  It can be used for preventative health care, or general relaxation.

What to expect from a treatment

The majority of people experience deep relaxation, tranquility and calmness.  Some people may fall asleep during the treatment.  You may feel slightly drowsy, fatigued or a little disoriented, especially if it is your first few sessions.  A reflexology treatment can leave you feeling balanced and revitalised.

What conditions can be treated

Reflexology can be an effective treatment for many ailments, both physical and emotional, because you are treating the entire body through the feet.  It is commonly used for fertility issues, and can be used to help induce labour if you are overdue.

Reflexology facilitates healing, but is not a medical or diagnostic treatment.
